Five teams qualify for world final

With the conclusion of the Italy, Spain and France VISTA semi finals, another five teams have now qualified for the world final. The winners were announced at an award ceremony last night in Madrid.

Vip Spilamberto (Italy), 4 de 4 and Monte Olivo (Spain) VTC Reims 2 and Equipe 2 (France) will all be going to Gothenburg this June, after triumphing in their respective semi finals to become the best teams in their region.

The competition took place at the Volvo Training Center in Madrid, last Wednesday, 3rd April, with five teams from cleansing. Each team had to complete a series of practical and theoretical tests. While judges went through the results yesterday, competitors were treated to some team building exercises, before meeting up in the evening for the formal award ceremony, where the winners were announced.

Despite taking part in VISTA for a number of years, this was the first semi final for Monte Olivo, a local VISTA team from the Volvo Truck Center in Valdemoro – right next door to the competition venue. “It’s important to control your nerves and remain calm,” claimed the team during last Wednesday’s competition. “Also follow the methods indicated in Volvo’s system, and read carefully. Teamwork and concentration are essential too.”

Their success is testamount to the competence development work being carried out in Valdemoro, and shows that success starts at home.

Equipe 2, the French winners, were also taking part in the semi finals for the first time. “We really enjoyed the experience,” they claimed. “We felt very excited yet nervous too, since it is the first time that we attend.”

All five teams have now earned their place amongst the best 32 teams in the world, and can look forward to a trip to Gothenburg in June for the world final.
