VISTA 2015-2016 Asia Pacific sets new record in pursuit of customer excellence
Six teams from the Asia Pacific region, including overall winners Red Borneo from Indonesia, will be going to the world final of VISTA 2015-2016.
VISTA 2015-2016 attracted more than 4000 participants in the Asia Pacific region – the largest ever contingent in this biennial event. On April 5-6, the top 24 teams were in Bangkok, Thailand for a two-day competition to decide which six teams would go through to the world final in Gothenburg, Sweden starting on 31 May.
The competition was held at one of Volvo Trucks’ newest dealerships in Bang Na, an hour’s drive from central Bangkok. Over the two days, the atmosphere was both tense and focused, leaving no doubt that all teams wanted to deliver their very best.
“VISTA is a key part of our competence development programme covering the technical and commercial areas of the Aftermarket business including awareness of the Volvo brand,” said Filip Van den Heede, Vice President, Aftermarket, Area Asia Oceania, who was on site to show his support for each of the teams in the competition. “Everyone who takes part in VISTA is guaranteed to come away from this experience with improved skills and new knowledge, which is why we encourage all our employees to get involved.”
Apart from the competition itself, participants also took part in a number of teambuilding activities, including building pushcarts for the Fatima Centre of the Good Shepherd Sisters of Thailand, an organisation that supports underprivileged women and children. On the last day teams were given a tour of Bangkok and immersed themselves in the rich culture and history of Thailand.
Finally, the winners were announced at a gala awards dinner. Needless to say emotions ran high as each of the six world finalists were revealed one by one. Tears of joy, jumps of elation, shaking of heads in disbelief, frantic calls home to loved ones to share the good news – it was an emotionally charged evening both on- and off-stage.
“We are extremely proud that we have been able to double the number of teams in this year’s competition and would like to extend my congratulations to the winners,” said Jacques Michel, President of Volvo Trucks in Asia Pacific. “Our aftermarket professionals meet and interact with our customers each and every day. They are arguably the most important people when it comes to delivering customer satisfaction and we recognise that.”
The top six teams were:
- Red Borneo from Indonesia
- Barra’s from Australia
- Jungli 9 from Taiwan
- Chullora Blues from Australia
- Wuhan Kaili Henan from China
- Royal Challengers from Singapore
